How do I prove that my biodiesel is different from the vegetable oil from which the diesel was derived?
Thursday, February 26th, 2009I am making biodiesel for a science project on a very very minimalistic budget (25 dollars). Is there a cheap yet effective way to tell the difference between biodiesel and vegtable oil? I do not have anything that runs diesel in my home. Please exclude things that can be derived locally, unless you know for a fact that this is something that can be found anywhere (i.e. in a supermarket).

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009I’m curious how many of us know which fuel is used to produce the electric power supplied to our homes. Which of the 6 fuels listed below creates the power to your home? (The percentages listed are the percentages of fuels used in the United States, the percentages in your country may be different.)
1. Fuel Oil, 1.6%
2. Non-Hydro Renewable and Other, 3.2% (includes generation from solar, wind, geothermal, biomass (agricultural waste, municipal solid waste, landfill gas recovery, wood, pitch), hydrogen, batteries, chemicals, non-wood waste, purchased steam, sulfur and miscellaneous technologies),
3. Hydropower 5.8%
4. Nuclear, 19.4%
5. Natural Gas, 21.4%
6. Coal, 48.6%
Thank you for your answer.

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009Aquila Green Energy Petition Writing Help?
Tuesday, February 17th, 2009In my city we have only one energy provider to choose from: Aquila Energy. Unfortunately Aquila has no program in place to allow for consumers to purchase renewable “green” energy only. I have contacted their offices a number of times via phone and email to encourage them to look into implementing such a program but their reps don’t have the slightest clue what I’m talking about and my emails go unanswered.
Since I have had no luck in getting anyone at Aquila to respond to my inquiries and appeals to implement such a program I have decided to create an online petition to let Aquila’s customers speak up
Because this is a big undertaking I want to make sure that I get the petition right the first time. I am going to address it to Aquila’s corporate office with a CC to the Missouri Board of Energy, should any others be involved/CC’d?
Do you have any general petition writing hints or tips?
