How would Obama employ 5 million employees with green energy, when only 1.75 million people now work in energy?

Jimmy Dean asked:

What will all these alternative energy people do? Will it cost more than 150 billion dollars?

What will happen to the people already working in energy? How much more expensive will this be than nuclear, which the democrats are still against?

I guess he plans on magically inventing new ways for people to work with energy.

  2. sammy says:

None…of his ideas or promises add up !!

  3. windandwater says:

I’m sure he’ll figure that out when he figures out how to give 95% of the American people tax cuts when only like 50% actually work and pay.

  4. J W W says:

Someone has to do the research to find the new energy sources and others must go out and build and operate it.

  5. eelfins says:

If everyone would just inflate their tires properly the energy saved could power our country for 10,000 years.

  6. Philtration says:

So you feel that their is some set number of people allowed to work in energy related jobs and that number is 1.75 million?

I luvs obama he is the savior of the whole atmosphere in the whole universe. goes obama and his wife with her fat belly and flat chest is the most best thing that could ever happen in the atmosphere

BIG YAWN. There’s a matter of direct positions and all of the indirect positions that could be created.

Of course, I doubt that really matters to the Haters… they complain no matter WHAT Obama does and says.

  9. yutsnark says:

Obviously, people will be hired who are not presently working in energy. What’s the problem with that?

  10. Jeremie B says:

I guess he thinks its a growth industry….problem is that I’m old enough to remember how all of the same stuff was tried before in the late 70’s. There has not been any magical breakthroughs and green energy doesn’t cut it.

the only REAL alternative to oil and coal is nuclear…it provides watts/dollar ratio that makes it worth while.

But you question is correct, Obama is full crap.

  11. ohbrother says:

Actually the number of people employed in energy will go way down when he kills coal and all coal fired and oil fired power plants.

Additional: How soon people forget. On Super Tuesday Obama stated in his speech he would reduce carbon emissions by 80 percent in America. At the time I wondered why no one picked up on this. That means coal fired and oil fired power plants. His Senate Bill S.2433 puts us under the Kyoto Protocol that allows China, India and Mexico to pollute as much as they want but will punish American industry if they exceed a set carbon emission. America will have to pay billions to the U.N. Why will people not do any research before they blindly follow.

  12. Omaha says:

Nuclear is the way to go. France gets 90% of their energy from nuclear power. Why can’t we do the same thing?

    Featherbedding.

Allow me to give a NON anti-obama-robot answer.

In order to develop, create, execute, and run new forms of energy, we will need a lot more people working on that stuff. In order to make America sufficiently Green, we will have to have people working on at least a half dozen forms of new kinds of energy all over the united states, which will create a decent wealth of new jobs.

My only concern is that it may not be soon enough to ease unemployment. In order for that to happen we would need Bush on this 3 months ago at least.

Sorry, Obama has said that including nuclear energy is something we are ‘going’ to have to include. As far as what his plans are in putting these many ‘to work’…I suspect he is talking all inclusive for ‘major metropolitan cities’ to participate. As far as direct employment; staff, sources, and exactly how many of these plants are going to be needed? What and how much development can we expect? If there is a Plant, how many to efficiently run the front and back of such ‘plant’ . Is this something to be involved with the revamping of our transportation? HE does plan on SELLING this to other Countries, and just handling that, might also require some networking, infrastructure/grid placement…not to mention the ‘education’, ’support’ and ‘development’ of it ‘ALL’. We are not just talking ONE source of Green Energy here… this is an all inclusive figure.

As to what ‘model’ he is comparing to? This is new for America, I know he has done the research on it, has advisers for it, and plans to implement it…. if the far Rights don’t interfere! If the other agenda’s can be met, if we can get through the next two years, let alone four! THIS should of been done already…but the focus of this Presidency has solely been IRAQ. WAR. And their making the most of it as long as they can….So we are left holding the bag.. and it stinks to high heaven.

I can only hope that Obama gets in there, and implements the beginnings of what he proposes. And as far as this other repsonder in here, that still insists on comparing the Green Energy of today to that of the Seventies, I must interject here, that Nuclear may be the most economic way to produce enough Power.. BUT, there are SO MANY OTHER SOURCES that we have now, that have been developed and utilized and can be made to be more affordable, acessable, interchangable.. that we have needed to scratch this surface since those 1970’s decades ago!!!!! WE have not done it, due to the BIG OIL COMPANIES MY DEAR! OMG!

there are many out there who have manufacturing experience, etc. that will begin making wind turbines, solar panels, etc. Many electricians will also begin doing additional jobs such as hookups for electric vehicles, solar installations, etc.
